The challenge.

Customers recognise battery sizes such as AA and AAA, but differences between battery types and their suitability for devices are less familiar. Panasonic wanted to make those choices clearer.

The key decision.

The core journey starts with the user’s device and recommends a suitable battery, with an option to order. A playful AR selfie feature added an engaging way to interact with the brand.

The rejected option & why.

In-store battery scanning through computer vision was researched and tested extensively. Its accuracy was insufficient for production, so the feature was not taken forward.

The outcome.

The app combined battery recommendations with an AR experience featuring Spider-Man. Testing also established a clear limit for the proposed scanning feature.

The final verdict.

The project connected practical product guidance with an interactive brand experience. Research and feature testing helped distinguish a promising concept from a feature ready for production.
